What is the test method of the mobile visual leak detector?

Publish Date:29-01-2026

The mobile phone visual leak detector is specialized equipment for waterproof and air tightness testing of mobile phones and other precision electronic products. As smartphone IP ratings continue to improve, the visual leak detector has become a key tool for production lines and quality inspection departments to verify product sealing performance, accurately locating tiny leak points and ensuring products meet IP67/IP68 protection standards.

The visual leak detector primarily uses the pressure decay method combined with a high-definition visual system for testing. The testing principle involves applying positive or negative pressure to the mobile phone under test through a sealed chamber. When a leak exists, the pressure change is captured by a precision sensor, and the bubble escape location can be observed in a transparent water tank. Modern visual leak detectors are typically equipped with a touchscreen operating system, supporting three modes: negative pressure testing, water pressure testing, and air pressure testing, to meet different process requirements.

I. The specific operating procedure is divided into five steps:

1. First, place the phone into the tray inside the sealed chamber of the visual leak detector and secure it;

2. Next, set the test depth (simulating water pressure from 1 to 100 meters), hold time, and pressure parameters on the touch screen.

3. Then start the test program; the equipment automatically pressurizes and enters the pressure holding stage.

4. During the test, directly observe whether bubbles are generated through the tempered glass tank;

5. Finally, determine defective products based on the leak location and bubble density.

2. Three points to note when using a visual leak detector:

1. Before testing, ensure the sealing plugs for the phone's openings are properly installed to avoid misjudgment; regularly calibrate the pressure sensor and flow meter to ensure detection accuracy;

2. Keep the observation window clean to ensure leakage bubbles are clearly visible.

3. It is recommended to perform a standard leak orifice verification on the first piece of each shift to ensure that the visual leak detector is in normal working condition.

That concludes the introduction to the testing methods for the mobile phone visual leak detector.
