Camera Waterproof Sealing Test Solution

Publish Date:28-10-2023

There are many types of cameras popular in the market, some used in automobiles, and some used in urban roads and various outdoor environments. All of them require waterproof testing, either IP67 waterproof testing or a higher level of waterproof testing.

If the camera's sealing is not good enough, water may intrude into it and affect the service life of internal components, so waterproof testing for cameras is necessary.

In summer, contact with water increases even more. The biggest highlight is undoubtedly the waterproof performance. With the addition of the waterproof concept, there is no need to worry about poor image clarity caused by water entering the camera, or short circuits in the wiring, and other negative effects that could compromise product quality and image clarity.

Air tightness testing is a critical quality inspection process for security monitoring products, and is widely used in areas such as waterproof testing for security cameras and air tightness testing for infrared monitors.

I. Security system monitoring products are classified as follows: 1. Surveillance cameras. 2. Building intercom systems: such as various video and non-video building intercom devices and systems. 3. Alarm system video surveillance equipment: such as hard disk recording and transmission equipment, and surveillance cameras. 4. Intrusion detectors: such as active infrared intrusion detectors, passive infrared intrusion detectors, microwave intrusion detectors, microwave and passive infrared intrusion detectors, ultrasonic intrusion detectors, vibration intrusion detectors, magnetic switch intrusion detectors, and ultrasonic and passive infrared intrusion detectors.

II. Main Testing of Security and Surveillance Products

Air tightness and waterproof testing for surveillance cameras is essential because these products are critical in nature and inevitably come into contact with water and dust. This is especially true in locations such as office buildings, industrial parks, tourist attractions, parks, and automobile, train, and high-speed rail stations, where foot traffic is heavy, exposure to water and dust is common, and the importance of surveillance is high. Therefore, air tightness testing of these products is particularly important. Conducting proper air tightness testing not only improves quality and price but also enhances brand reputation and earns broader trust from more customers.

III. Air Tightness Testing Methods for Security Systems

There are two methods for camera inspection:

1. One type has an inflation port, through which air can be directly inflated into or extracted from the camera. Once the set pressure is reached, inflation or extraction stops. After a few seconds of testing, the leak detector will make a judgment based on the leakage value and light up the indicator; 2. The other type is fully sealed. A contoured cavity can be made to place the camera inside, with the wiring harness led out and sealed. Then, the air tightness tester is used to pressurize and inflate the cavity (i.e., the camera surface) for testing, IP67 or IP68 waterproof test.

From the perspective of security industry applications, both methods are used, with the first method being relatively simpler to implement.
